Once inside a test, the synthetic is able to latch on to supports, walls or fabrics and even attempt to 'swim' in place to keep a stable observation position and record as much data as possible.

Finally, they each have a ceramic inscriptions plate inside their torso capable of recording notable details, protected by a shock resistant casing. Even if the entire synthetic is destroyed, this ceramic plate can be read by another such synthetic, so data is always gained.
